996 911's talk to me.
« on: 28 January 2012, 20:54 »
Anyone on here got any experience with these (I know there's a few porker heads on here). I've read up all about the engine failure stuff, more interested in general ownership and driving experience.

Very tempted to trade up to one from the Mazda in 2013 and just doing a bit of research. Would be most interested in the pov spec 2wd ones as that's more my cup of tea.

Something like this one: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3529166.htm

That's a nice one but I'd want a manual and not for another 12 months

I wish, it's just I've wanted a 911 since I first had toy cars and right now these can be picked up for 10-12K. It would be a stretch and MrsH has agreed on principle if I sort the carpets, double glazing and a few other bits in the flat first.

Great cars...Sure the engine issues exist...but in the 5 years I had mine, I never met anyone who had suffered it.
My RMS did leak though...not enough to worry me had I not had a warranty.

Over the the first 3 years I had my C4S, it cost less to run/service than my Audi S3.

What do you want to know specifically?

This was mine:

It was a childhood itch tht had to be scratched...and boy, did it feel good!

Early 3.4s are not great...you need the 3.6.
Carrera is a good car...especially if you can find one with PSM which make it roundabout proof.
C4s are more usable in all weathers...
C4Ss are unstoppable...just epic.
GT3s scary (in a good way)...and well out of the budget I expect.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.
