I have fixed it. Alternator connecting bolt went AWOL.  I literally cruised to a stop and ate the Mc'Ds I just bought. Then using a screwdriver and tapping it with a brick loosened the 13mm nut on the wing that holds the bonnet earth strap in place, placed this on the alternator and after much giving up, strenuous effort and nearly running myself over, I managed to push it up an incline, roll back down and bump start it. Then stall it but the momentum allowed for another bump start.

Who needs the RAC?

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.
