Warning! If you don't tolerate idiots don't read on!!

After many months (years) of patiently waiting I've finally tracked down a reasonably priced second hand VCDS cable. I've installed the software onto my wife's netbook and just spent an hour in the freezing cold piddling about in the car trying to figure out what's what.
I've read the 10 page thread on mk6 VCDS many times and it still looks Chinese to me so I thought I'd go and have a play and see what I could remember from the thread whilst sitting out of range of my wi-fi (as you do).
I can't get staging to work. Says it's not possible in a little dialog box.
I'm not sure whether I've activated the Dynaudio on the retro fitted RNS 'B' (fairly up to date firmware) as the radio just turns on with the ignition and I don't see a boot screen. I may need to leave it a few hours for it all to re-set I guess, so I won't touch the car again until Saturday afternoon.
I 'think' I've managed to de activate the super annoying rear wipe in reverse gear.
I've no idea whether I can get full voice control to work as my car has factory Bluetooth but no sharkfin ariel, so I don't know what version it is (second hand car so didn't spec it myself, in fact I wouldn't have bothered to spec it new but now I've got it I love it!!).
And I'm not sure whether the computer thingy has BAP enabled as last time I used the nav it didn't display on the instrument screen like it did in my last car, but it did mention BAP with a ticked box in one of the long coder sections somewhere. Any ideas? I haven't driven the car since I've fiddled with a few settings so will update sometime soon. Not got time now as I have to go to work.
The car is March 2011 registered if that has any bearing on things (particularly the staging as that should work surely?), has factory xenons with Xmas lights, Bluetooth and that's about it for luxuries if you discount the plastic seats.
Apologies for my idiocy, but it's genetic...
