see i was the other way around, in the north we were treated like outsiders because we are southern, lived in quite a nice area, an look different (tattoos an the like), i liked the friendly people in the shops (didnt like that i had to drive to sheffield to get to the good shops!) I also like the roads in the countryside! But i never felt welcome in any pub or in the neighbourhood. So, back here but retained interests in ze north! (i have to, the inlaws live there!!)

That's interesting but not massively surprising. I think Northerners are generally very friendly to all people but the ones they're most likely to be suspicious of are southerners. Having said that, amongst all my friends, the ones who get the most ribbing are Lancastrians for obvious reasons. All good natured banter of course
