silicone hose AGU advice please
« on: 13 December 2011, 14:42 »
Im looking at replacing some hoses on my AGU, im just wondering how hard it is and if any one has any tips before i start buying and installing tips also be pretty cool. A few little questions first though.

I only NEED to replace the forge tip (big pipe going into throttle body part i think) is it worth doing all the pipes while im at it? cost of these pipes seems to be pretty expensive thats all.

Any info on above would be awesome, any sources of were to buy these pipes from also awesome

Thanks

How comes it needs replacing? Did the silicone get damaged?

ive just purchased the car and was completly standard when i got it but the old hoses are very cracked and britle already had to replace vacuum pipes and some little others. Pipe from throttle body has a large split under the clamps which i guess is leaking some thing.

So is it worth doing all of these pipes or just the ones i know are cracking? way i see it is if some are cracking and the others are made of the same poo should proberly just replace them all.

Guide is great thanks, does any one know of a guide to change the big pipe from throttle body to turbo/intercooler?

Silicone shouldn't get cracked or brittle  :undecided:

just so im clear im talking about the large pipe thats front left of engine bay while looking at windscreen. It still seems soft to squeeze but is showing many splits and cracks at the ends they attach. My only issue with these things is that they are very expensive to replace some pipes in my eyes..... but im a noob and might be completly wrong.

Silicone is soft to sqeeze, but it shouldn't split. Do you know if it's genuinely Forge? Usually has Forge written along it somewhere.

...I thought you were talking about replacing the Forge TIP, as you said. In that case, get a Forge one if the standard one is split.
