I get a company car or the cash, so I opted out and ran the numbers against running my own vehicle, I do 18-25k a year so fuel becomes a big part of the equation, to get the nicer car it had to be diesel and with the mid-range punch it's a sacrifice I'm prepared to make in that most of my driving is long distance.
For similar purchase and running costs over 4 years it was looking like a poverty spec 1.4 match.
But back on topic:
Xenon's are top of my list because its a safety thing, with high miles comes eye strain on top of my already not brilliant eye sight. Now I relish rather than loath darker journeys. Especially when your pushing on round the twisties trying to catch up with the end of your swiveling beam pattern, bit like a dog catching its tail.
