Surely the negative wants to be to body rather than directly to the battery! Also shouldn't it be fused too?

Don't call me Surely!
Isn't the relay plate already fused the ignition switch is already?
Plus it doesn't matter where earth is TBH the MK2 has it connected to gear box already via negative terminals?

Hello Ben hows the new mini treating you

The Mini is awesome. 12 months of driving the car and haven't opened my toolbox once! I've got to say, driving a newer car is so much easier :) But that's not to say its going to be cheap. It just went through its MOT and they failed it on a tiny hole in the exhaust, then quoted me £900 for a replacement  Nothing £2 of gun gum couldn't fix ;) On top of that, I've been eyeing up new bits, clutch, shocks, smaller pulley - none of which are remotely cheap!

My diagram is better ... :)
