I have 18's and ACC on my petrol gti and I hate it when the suspention is set to normal (it feels like a civic type R on sport good from time to time ) and have mine set to comfort all the time apart from going mental. Thing is we are not sure if the diesel suspension is exactly the same stiffnes as petrol suspension.

So drive ant deisel with 18's acc or not and go from there, if it's to hard get ACC.

Plus sunroofs are gay, noisy when closed even with the cover, worse when open, burns your bonse when your bald and messes up my golden locks if i was in full drag which I would if I had a sunroof.
I don't believe in global warming, sorry.
How are speed bumps legal?
I dislike lorry drivers who block lanes in traffic.

The thing is ACC for me is the difference of loving the car and hating it and For me a sunroof isn't.

I have met.black GTD on 18"s and with the two choices I'd go sunroof. I've not missed having ACC or the luxury pack. I do miss my sunroof though.

I rarely opened the sunroof on poor little dead car, but I liked the feeling of space that the light gave.  Oh dear, I am as confused as ever, and now other half wants me to get a Merc 250 cdi sport - don't like - too big - too sedate and grown up and the salesmen (well one of them at least) are misogynists who get arsey when the realise you know something about the car you are viewing and can't be conned.  (VW salesmen much nicer!)

Sorry about rant - had a run in with Merc salesman today who attempted to tell me that the items on the standard spec were all extras and wouldn't I be a lucky little girl

Get the Merc. It's a superior car in every way to a GTD. In comparison, the GTD is a buzz box.
Apart from the fact they're tiny inside! I'm 6'2" and with the drivers seat in my position there is absolutely no room in the back and the B pillar is a massive blind spot! However if your short then this isn't an issue,
The stereo is annoying as well with the stupid flap over the screen!!

Get a GTD....

Get the Merc.

Except the lack of ability to drive anywhere in winter...unlike the FWD GTD.

Not so. Worked a treat last winter with winter tyres.

What kind of roads are you likely to be driving on? Here in the moorlands of North Yorkshire I really find ACC beneficial to my comfort.  At the same time though I appreciate the sunroof during the summer months, if possible I would give them both a go and see which floats your boat the most.
