streaming audio on a website
« on: 04 November 2011, 12:21 »
right then...

got a joomla website of a friend of mine but they want to stream some audio files as samples for people to listen to...

whats the best free module, plugin that I could use? they need to be able to play .wma and .wav files... if not then I need some way of converting them but retaining quality

this is the first time I have done anything with audio so your advice and guidance is appreciated

Try a web service like http://soundcloud.com/ Upload your audio to them, and then embed the audio into your webpage.
There's also http://www.mixcloud.com/ Same sort of thing.

Soundcloud or similar as already suggested.

You need to avoid hosting the bandwidth yourself.

Even put it on youtube - doesn't matter where it goes.

Embedding is the way forward.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

there isn't very much, only a couple of tracks... but it is all sorted now.. thank you

have used AllVideos (plugin) so that it can be skinned and either hosted on or off the site :)
