Ohh is there meant to be a plate that goes over the top of the manifold and then a tube feeds to the inlet?

Yes. Ducts warm air to the inlet when it's cold.

I ended up flogging the pancake K&N filter I had on my old one and returned to the old OEM one with a panel filter, albeit I swiss cheesed it for the induction roar

Yeah going to take it off and flog it when I get an original setup.
Insulating the cabbin as well this weekend as the cold is insane in this mk2.
Bought an ABF today.
