Thinking about swapping for one, what do you think the chances of getting discount at a main dealer are?

Hmm i think so too, i do however think i can find places that will give good discounts, do we know when these will arrive at the dealers, also does anyone know when the mk7 is due???

It is one of those 'how long is a bit of string?' scenarios.

You could phone a broker, get a couple of grand off and hope the build slot isn't too far off. This is ideal if you don't have a part ex and can wait a while.

If however you do have a car to chop in you could phone around various dealers who have allocation and see if they will cut a deal with your part ex. They will word it one of three ways: cost to change, discount off the list or give you a figure way over book for yours. It all amouts to the same thing and the only thing you need will be to have a realistic value of your part exchange car in mind with which you can base your deal on.

I had a text from Broadspeed the other day offering me a black GTI from stock with £3k off, okay, it's not an ED35 but it shows there are deals out there.

I had the same test too. Guess soemone dropped out a deal.

I've been thinking hard about the ED35, and will test drive one shortly when my dealer gets one in, but the big thing I don't like about them is the full leather, its just too boring being all black!

Apart from that, the price is also an issue, if it was a mk7 then it might not be as bigger issue, but to swap a 2010 GTi for the same shape model, but with a couple of tweeks and an extra bit of grunt, but a lot more money, I'm not sure.

If they can do a good deal I'd be tempted but it would need to be good.

Broadspeed are advertising them at £25,252 which would be more realisitic a price to pay IMO.

I will probably get a quote from them, and take it too dealer to match, if they can then I'd have one, otherwise I will walk away, save extra cash for a mk7 GTi or new S3.

On a side note I'm also tempted with how the new Astra VXR is shaping up, looks a lot more grown up this time round.

Off topic, and I apologise, but I've not seen pics of the new VXR yet. I can get big discounts off Vauxhalls from work so may well look that way next time myself.

Almost back on topic: The leather interior looks a lot better when you add some little touches like Gulfstream seat lever inserts. It's just a shame the stitching isn't a contrasting colour to give it a bit of visual oomph.

There is some big discounts on old trim gti's that have chargeable leather or cloth. Even one golf r in our group which is lovely spec with big discount...........
