Phew, appreciate the replies. Thought there was something seriously wrong with my car. But I still find 19mpg poor for a 5.5mile journey of granny driving

It's force of habit for me to use VPower, don't mind paying that bit extra. Last time I used normal pump 95 the engine felt a bit flat...

Crazy tho how some people claim they get almost 100 miles for £20!?

You could easily get 100 miles on twenty quids worth of fuel, travelling at a steady speed of about 60.  But it wouldn't be much fun.  Petrol seems to have dropped a bit in price recently round my way.

Personally i pay little attention to the trip computer over short journeys as it acts more like a random number generator for me !

I do mostly short trips (under 20 miles around town and generally drive it with a lead foot) and working it out from a full tank I average about 30mpg so your 20 does seem low.

Can I buy your engine in that case.

I've had a lot of mixed reviews on how much mpg i should be getting. Bearing in mind the 20mpg I get is town driving only which is a lot of stop/start. Going to fill her up today and see what sort of mpg I get. Is best way to do this is keep a reading of how many litres I put in, how Many miles I get to a full tank and work it out from there?

Yes that is the best way to get a true idea of what you are getting.

This is a good site for working out your MPG - input litres used/ miles driven/ etc and it gives you your mpg - http://www.torquecars.com/tools/uk-mpg-calculator.php

My trip computer shows average 26mpg on my 7 mile commute to work - haven't filled it up and calculated properly yet as i've only had the car 2 weeks

Your doing well at 26mpg. Is the route u take in town or longer and less stop/starts?

I've found the car's fuel computer to be very accurate when I've worked out miles/fuel used manually.

You should try taking the car on a decent run (30 miles+) to see if you can get over 30mpg.

Under 20 mpg does sound poor unless you are stationary for long periods. I can get 25+ on a shortish town run.
