TDi 150 definition on Logbook ?
« on: 25 September 2011, 10:04 »
Hi all, just bought a GT TDi 150 mk4 but when the logbook came back I realised there is no '150' definition on the paperwork ? Just to ask how it it stated which BHP model I own ? also any other 'tips' on ownership would be much appreciated, cheers :-)

Hi, if you look on the boot floor you should have a sticker which shows you stated power output, your should be 110KW

Does it have a dark wood trim on the dash and doors?

You could also open the bonnet and check to see if the intercooler is front mounted with the radiators.

Tips: check you oil a lot

Also whilst looking for the intercooler check that the pipes at both ends are nice and secure.  It would be well worth getting the car on some ramps and replace the clips and o-rings as they wear over time leading to pipes blowing off and boost leaks which will affect your performance, power, mpg etc etc

For the clips and seals on the bottom of the intercooler? I don't know if mine has ever had these replaced but after 115k I'm reckoning I should right? Are there any you could suggest or where to get them from? Cheers

Dealer only for those bits i'm afraid and deffo worth doing.  You may find that the lugs on the pipes themselves are worn though meaning you'll need replacement pipes.........

You can go aftermarket for the pipes but you still have the silly VW clip system holding them in place

Cheers guys....the logbook engine number reads 'ARL' just to confirm :-).......I will check the intercooler pipes too asap. It seems to run fine otherwise and the week after we bought it we had a Major service including cambelt, water pump and brakes, and as for checking the oil I lift the bonnet twice a week anyway. Great tips much appreciated
