I happen to love my 'maggot infested premium hatch Audi A3' and I'm sure Rhyso does too.
Must be why my mother has just chopped her GTI in for an Audi, hmmm......
Also was very fond of my Leons aswell :)

Cars need to die for new ones to emerge. It's called progress. The Mk5 is dead and the A3 is in its death throws which have been unnecessarily protracted. The Mk6 will follow suite. As for the Leon, it should never have been born.

Very nice car Andy :)
Seen as I'm down in the West Country with my Dad for the week, maybe I'll have to see the new beast, does look gorgeous in the pictures!

Thanks Dan, sorry for the delayed reply, been running about all over the place the last few days. The car is going into the dealer on Wednesday (hopfully not a sign of things to come as the last one didn't put a foot wrong the whole time I had it), but if you're about some time during the week I'd be happy to give you a guided tour of the grey whale. Be nice to see the Audi too (and yourself of course!!)  :smiley:

I would not say that, from a looks point of view maybe, but engineering they have turned into white goods.

Sorry VW cannot make cars, their a white goods company now and don't care about standards or there customers.
The Americans see through the rose tinted glasses some people have for VW. I won't be going near a new VW badged product again after the last two.

Were as our mk1 leon is coming back to us it may not be as advanced as more modern VW badged products but its well constructed and does what its suppose to do.  :cool:

Yeah those pics do look nice. Although it was never the exterior that put me off the SEAT's in the past...

@Snoops:
VW products are sought the world over and are not considered white goods. You, unfortunately amongst a few others, have had a bitter experience. However, the majority of drivers and that includes myself, are more than satisfied with the VW product. Perhaps we don't dissect a car as thoroughly as you and thus get disappointed if certain features and factors don't meet our personal criteria.

I am sorry I have to disagree with you on this matter. I know how strongly you feel about it due to the many problems you have had to endure. But, in reality, there are very few loud and lone voices that project their disappointment. These tend to mask the silent majority of drivers who truly love their VWs.

I feel my GTI is as near perfect a car as is possible. I love it.

@MAW73:
I would not bet on it. SEAT is a basket case and VW would love to get shot of it. Their cars promise much but never deliver. VW have a difficult time with the Spanish Unions. Reminds me of another country in the 70s which nearly came to its knees and in the process lost its motor car industry eventually. Thatcher was a saviour of sorts.

I see it as a white good as its designed for people who change cars every couple of years.
Its designed for the iplop touchy feely, stroke generation who have no idea how to even fit a 3pin mains plug.
SEAT is simply mis-managed by VW and not allowed to go in the direction it was originally intended to go because of VW. (SEAT was suppose to be moved to under 'Audi brand group' control and become sporty brand building on the the sucsess of the original cupras). SEAT in the Mid 90s till mid 00's produced superior cars to there VW rival.
The problem was some idiot thought it a good idea to let a bloke called walter De'silva to re-invent SEAT design direction.
VW have large problems with there German work force.

I may have had a couple of issues with the mk6 but its not the only VW modern product we have as a family had in recent years. They have all suffered from poor quality control, Extremely Poor customer service, Poor dealerships,
There built to a price (expensive workforce) to maximise profit (So VW can take over the world) and sod the customer approach. I read others from OZ,USA, Germany saying similar regular.

Amen to that
100% agree, could've written that myself (  :grin: )

Hopefully Luc Donkeyb*ll*cks will do the necessary but I have a feeling he's moved on too.

I used the mk1 leon today. It may not be the best handling car, it may not be the best image car but theres little touches that were standard i like. Like the door lights, the door sill covers, the heater that seems to control properly, the folding mirrors, the steering feel, The properly design boot handle that sits in a plastic resess so does not fill with water and rot out like the poor VW design copy of it  :grin:  etc etc.
