Adjustable coilover springs .....help!
« on: 13 September 2011, 19:54 »
I have just had a set of adjustable coilover springs fitted to my mk3 golf , they were advertised as being capable of lowering a golf up to 100mm, however......... My golf was already lowered 40mm......now with the adjusters set at there lowest setting my car is now higher than before, not by much though.......anybody got any ideas.

I called the company that supplied them and they said they have sold hundreds for golfs and the only complaint they had was that they were to low! Has any one out there ever fitted them that can send some pics of them on the car or point me in the right direction....... Before any one says ditch them and get proper coil overs or springs, I can't afford them!

Not sure if it makes a difference but they were advertised as being for a mk3 gti but I am told the struts are all the same length so should make no difference

shockers are all the same fitment etc (but gas on gti/vr models).. I hate to say but i can't see they would ever lower more than 50mm (and thats pushing it) as they compress the springs making the car lower but unless the springs are very soft at some point they won't compress anymore under the cars weight, plus your shockers will try and counteract some of the lowering   :undecided:

why didnt you buy coilovers?
so let me get this right. you keep your original springs in with them?
when i seen them on ebay i thought they replaced your coil springs.
or am i just being a douche and reading that wrong?

I didn't get coilovers cause I am skint and they would of cost me £150 plus fitting, these were 50 plus fitting. What I brought does replace the coil spring, they are smaller springs with adjusters at the bottom .
