New Golf owener
« on: 06 September 2011, 09:44 »
Hi all
Picked up my new golf last Thursday, and must say probably the best car I've owned so far. However I do have which might be a silly question, which is when headlights, frontfogs or sidelights are on should a indicator lamp come on in the instument cluster?
thanks

Hello and welcome.
Nice Golf, looks classy in blue.

There should be an orange headlight indicator lamp thingy in the speedometer I think. Funny you should ask that as I've never taken any notice.
If a bulb dies you will get a warning in the central computer area thingy bit.

The light on indicators are for some odd reason above the light switch rather than in the instrument panel.
The amount of times when i was using Auto mode on the light switch i kept looking at the light switch to see if the lights were on or not was just silly. So i do it manually now as its much safer.

I'm pretty sure they is no indicator light on the GT. I generally have the lights on Auto, and can tell when they have turned on because the radio turns blue.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

thanks for the answers, only the rear fog light seems to get a light on the instrument cluster. On page 98 of the owners manual theres a chart listing the various indicator lamps including the headlamps and fogs ,which i thought should show up on the instrument cluster.

thanks anyway

Welcome.
Is it a Golf Match yu have bought?
My nephew has exactly the same car as yours, at least colourwise. I love it.
Congratulations.

Absolutely brilliant value for money. Fully loaded and needs nothing more. The petrol engine is so smooth and peppy plus the ride is exceptional. Top choice.
