I'd bet my house that the MK7 GTI has stop/stop.

Only a fool would have stop/start function  on a high performance turbo car?

Image you have just polishing the loud pedal for a good 15 minutes and come to a set of traffic lights...your car stops the engine and also stops the turbo circulating the oil very suddenly  its a recipe for disaster.

I don't see new coming out without it now, they will think of a way to fix possible issues.  My mate is very senior in R&D in Garret, I'll ask his views

Turbo heat and oil circulation is easy enough overcome by electric run on pumps...and the GTI isn't exactly 'high performance' is it, compared to the likes of the current M3..and it's got Stop/start.
no reason why not to have it..you can always turn it off.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.

Its supposedly done for emissions where people are stuck in traffic most of the time. You don't gain much advantage in fuel con as when you crank the engine over which takes energy out of the battery the alternator works harder to charge the battery back up which puts extra load on the engine so you don't really save much fuel.

If you have this stupid feature you can always turn it off its not compulsary?
