I just thought mine didn't work! Didn't realise they came on with the rear windscreen button! Also how do the heated washer jets come on?

The same

We sometimes forget that the GTI is and has always been a premium brand (yes even the 8V).

8v. 16. and VR6 were all same spec

was just the engine that was different, then you get the specials like the annie with added trim bits or the Colour concepts and highlines etc

but in a nut shell, they are all basically the same

Just had a butchers at the handbook, the heated washers work according to ambient temperature.

Think the heaters for the jets must be in the bonnet. Thats the only wiring I can see anywhere around them apart from the pump. Being in the bonnet near the actual jets wont defrost frozen water in the pipes and reservoir either, so no wonder they dont really work.

water in pipes or res should not freeze up if you have antifreeze in them (as you should)

the mozzle ends freeze over tho and this is why they are heated, elements are inside the jet part.. mine were not working but when i did my conversion we found the wires were split so they probably work now

Could I just add that you should use screenwash and not antifreeze.

I hope you're not using antifreeze unless you enjoy a nice greasy windscreen

I don't know where you guys buy your screen wash, but I'd check the temperature it goes down to. Some of the ready mixed stuff and some alleged concentrates only go to about -4C if you're lucky. I use a double concentrated that on its own goes to like -50C. 2L bottle lasts a very long time at that concentration too.
