Hi all
I last posted around 3 years ago when I was looking for a mk2 GTI. My impending marriage and lack of a garage ruined that plan, but 3 years on I am married and have a house with garage!
I have around £2k to spend, but may strecth a little for the right car, or spend less and use some cash to improve the car
A quick search on piston heads:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2973141.htmThere is very little info in the advert but I contacted the seller who reports: 8v, bodywork 'mint', recent respray, no paperwork (apparent house fire), no tax/mot, not been on the road for a few years but was running until a month ago, now no spark - thinks needs new dizzy cap (?), will deliver (I have no trailer), selling for £700.
I am partly looking for advice on this car but mainly asking the question is it worth taking a risk buying a car which is in good knick but may need mechanical work or is it better buying an mot'd solid runner at more of a premium?
The chap thinks it would sell for more if breaking for spares but he has no time due to pending baby arrival.
Thanks all in advance
Pete.
