so, its been in today, and had the following treatment:

Test drive found there was a hiccup as described.
checked for software update - needed update, so update applied, then test drive to discover slight misfire under hard acceleration.
Removed all spark plugs and checked - found cracks in all spark plugs !!!! replaced and tested ok.

Been washed very well, and cleaned inside, which has saved me a job, although not quite to my standards, but saved me several hours

Driven home (not far and all seems well). Given £25 in leisure vouchers as car been put in under warranty.

Time will tell. :lipsrsealed:

Great news, fingers crossed. £25 voucher? What's that for?

Thank you for the update. Glad yours is sorted.
I asked today for a copy of my service invoice from March too see if i had had the software update talked about elsewere but it was not listed and the guy thought it must not have been done if its not on the invoice to VW.

No worries, seems to drive like it used to before, and pulls smoothly through the gears again.

Hope you get your sorted, I can relate to how frustrating it is.

Firstly, what is it like to be right
Secondly, dont know which ones, but according to my brother in law (VW Technician) they are supposed to do about 80K, and the dealer suspected they had overheated !!!! not sure about that, but certainly back to how it should be.
