Owl yes I love that BM. I'd consider one of those for that sort of money. A real performance car.

Don,t get the Bm. I,ve got an 07 320i M Sport Coupe, absolutley sh!te in the snow and the RF,s are too rigid and give no feel of the car and they cost a fortune to replace. Apart from that a great car . Mines up for sale in Sept when I get me 5 door Gti

I have been accused by each one of you grandstanding trollops of being THE OT King. But you guys take the sodding cake and then some.

@Original Poster: You will not regret getting a Golf, any Golf. However, if I was to choose between the GTI and the GTD, I'd definitely get the former as it is a nicer car, without any doubt. Even the seats have a more attractive plaid pattern. The GTD is a very good car, but the GTI is a GREAT car. End of.

The other cars on your list are nothing but also-rans and simply have too many foibles. They are still fumbling their way towards Golf quality and status.

Always remember, you pay for what you get.

Hope you can now make the right choice.

3 Door GTD in Carbon grey, subtle but stunning to look at, and great to drive, great MPG, strong resale even with high milage and keeps manners on the A4's and 320D's.

If you go for a performance Golf.... new.... Then may I suggest that as you've come from a (shall we say) 'ordinary' saloon (the company's Passat) that you spec in ACC, as the ride *will most definitely* be somewhat harder than you're used to - as I've found out!
Any performance car (or any car in fact!) with wide tyres - without 4 wheel drive - will be an absolute ar$e to drive in the snow/ice (unless fitted with 'AutoSocks' of course) many times in the snow in my 13 yr old Combo van I've cruised past 'prestige' cars flailing away by the curbside in the snow (my Bora PD150 included).
I can't comment on your other choices, but do your homework, checkout the long term reviews and once you've narrowed it down to a couple, have a test drive of each

Remember.... 'Like a Golf... But not a Golf'
Mk VI Black Pearl GTD.... No Frills, replaced a Black Pearl PD150 Bora, which in turn replaced a Dragon Green VR6 which followed a Dusty Mauve MK III 8v Gti.

Lead times seem to have had a bit of a push-on, perhaps for September deliveries, ~Currently on for 18 Weeks from point of Order, then add 4 weeks for the date of the original Dealer Order.

Been really happy with the GTI. Best and most complete car I've ever owned to date so I would certainly recommend it. Get 5 doors for more practicallity and make sure you purchase one with Xenons. DSG is also a must in my book. The quality and feel of the interior on the Mk6 is superb.

Personally I would buy a nearly new one from the dealer to cut out the silly waiting times and save a few pennies in the process but that's just my opinion. If you want a new one with a long list of options be prepared to wait as there are countless threads on here about long waiting times.

Anyway go and get yourself a GTI or GTD and you can qualify to waste countless hours on here talking c@ap
