There is no black art to any of this just common understanding of the BEST way to keep car and customer happy.

If it's owt like the stage 2 HPFP ED30 I did I will be mental and give you a massive grin. You will then need the AMD BTCC brakes :-)

god you tuners   round 3

Tell me about it they are both crap.. AMD FTMFW !!!

Disclaimer - I am joking guys

LOL! Nice bit of Banter always lightens the mood

Not quite sure why the following ended up hidden in ADAM’s quote but it’s there none the less:

RTechUK:

“Read the thread, as long as the Bosch number and hardware numbers match and sw code match then the correct matching file CAN be used.  115T comes with 3 sw version all will work 100% but the best version to use would be the latest UPDATE version based on the S0000 numbers.

You can argue all day long and miss inform that forum, but the truth is what I am stating, it's the way I work, it's the way revo and apr and other tuners work.  A whole production line of 1000 cars come off the production Line all the same modle and spec all of the 1000 car will have the exact same map on there ecu and won't change until a dealer sw update is out to iron out code bugs.

I have nothing to gain or lose by giving this information, I just like forums members to be informed on the actual facts...  I am not a salesman I am a tuner who has a passion for tuning not, starting dealers up, companies up everywhere to get sales. One company many many years of happy feedback on many forums to what we do.

I have wrote 1000s of map to VAG ecus over the years,  and if I have been doing it wrong don't you think I would have 1000s of unhappy customers???”

“You can argue all day long and miss inform that forum, but the truth is what I am stating, it's the way I work, it's the way revo and apr and other tuners work”

Right, ‘miss inform’ is based on your opinion so please remember it is just that – an opinion.

Obviously you are a REVO dealer so I’m sure you’ve had a good look at their files and what they do but how do you know with such confidence what APR and other tuners do? I find it very hard to believe that such large companies who work mainly on new cars that are still under warranty would be doing this when there are very obvious issues with working in this way if you actually sit down and think about it for a minute.

What happens when your nice 11 plate TTS goes back into AUDI with a different software version and no record on AUDI’s systems of the car ever having a software update! NOT GOOD!

Anyway, to all reading I can only apologise for the public arguments that seem to end up happening every time I post ANYTHING on this forum – It is not intentional on my part but if questioned about our methodology I will always justify the way we work with simple logic.

My input on this thread was really just to say I understand the potential issues AMD could be having and just to go easy on them as everyone seemed to be having a go – That was greeted by:

“I’m right, you’re wrong, I must be right because Revo + APR do it”

Hardly the best examples of companies that don’t have problems  :lipsrsealed:

Anyway, yet again a thread turned into ‘a boxing ring’ as tech1889 said - hopefully in the future we might be able to post our opinions and the information we have to offer without this happening....................

I live in hope LOL!

I am in contact with lot of tuners across the uk, I did not go on a 2 week dimsport training course to learn to add % to map pack drivers, I built up my methods from trail and error, talking to other tuners ect. As for a remap on car with warranty I tell customers to be honest with there Vw dealer and tell them the car is remaped, because its easy for the dealer to tell a car is remapped just by driving it or logging. If customers start to lie about the map it seem they have something to hide and admitting no faith in the remap.
I do work of 3 major dealers local and they tell me all the stories about remapping and warranty claims.
My interests are to my customer and there car making sure it's on the best software revision with all the bugs mapped out.  If you check out revo and apr you will find they offer sw updates by using the latest sw to iron out bugs in the stock code.

So if you had a forum member come to carbon chiptuning for a remap with a 2001 AUM and you ID there ecu as 032DR 887-128 would you map the car using the 128 software or update it to 272 software which got rid of the bug and maps better and safer with the fuel?  Or would they go out with a sw version known to have bugs in the code?  But then later 032HJ its a BAD move to use the latest SW as it has a surge point in the torque structure code.

Its down to understanding the ecu code to make sure the car and map is 100% ok, differing code DO have factory based issues and bugs underlaying.  have a read here > http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/194909-have-you-got-a-boost-surge-after-a-re-map/

The tuner was taking a bit of a bashing onn the forum, he used the sw he read off the car to produce the map like carbon chiptuning would, but becuase the code as bugs in the torque structure it highlighted the issues.  After a few month  I emailed the tune Ben and gave him good advise on how to fix the issues (the same as I do with this forum) the end result was the customer ended up happy and with good running cars.

The tuners reply:
Further to Ollie's post, flashing the car with a different version of factory software has solved the issue, a suggestion that was made by Nick at R-tech (thanks Nick).

The first version of the remap for Ollie was perfect apart from a slight flat spot, which we then retuned and I believe Ollie left a happy chap (unfortunately I'd popped out to pick up some parts and Ollie had to go - so thanks to Ollie for his patience with the testing).

As Ollie mentioned we now have to work on making this work with an STS (which isn't going to be that straight forward).

As for the rolling road thing - yes I understand your point but generally testing is best done on the road IMO. Having said that, it might not be so much of a problem in the not-so-distant future... watch this space.

So, let's move forward knowing that there is a fix. Can those who require a reworked map (either by STS or by coming to us) please let me know by email or PM.

End of matter IMO
Unless your mapping an R8 MED9 dual ecus where both ecus have to have exact same in both ecus and must only use the ID map..lol

Thread cleaned up; this is a forum not a boxing ring

You both have different methods, different areas of expertise and different markets so there's plenty of room within the forum for everyone
