Got a letter from the company dealing with my claim for the 'trailer incident' this included a copy of the invoice for the Astra hire car which I had last month, I had the car for 3 weeks and the total bill for hire of the car, insurance, delivery & collection etc was a tad under £4k

The letter also included a copy of the assessors report of the car who valued it at £3.5k! Go figure that one out! £4000 of hire car + £1500 of repairs + all of the fees & charges for dealing with my claim = a hell of a lot more than the car was worth!

Not always the best answer, my mate did that and got really stung come renewal time.

It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it?! The Astra was £129 a day apparently!! I also had personal injury lawyers ringing me for 48 hours afterwards to 'assist me in claiming the compensation I was entitle to', even after I explained to them countless times that at no point was I injured.

I blame the american's and their claim culture...

It is madness you can hire a car for £30 a day but the same car it an insurance company is 4x's as much.

Ive had 2 hire cars due to insurance claims and both have been more than double what the repair cost was
