so is it getting repaired then mate?

It'll be getting repaired regardless, I'm hoping its not a write off. If it is I'll buy it back & repair it. I'm going to ring jonny at the garage tomorrow to see what's happening :undecided:

Bad luck fella although you could look on the bright side of things and be pleased that it's about to have a load of new parts and paint thrown on it at someone else's expense. Surely some ''extras'' could slip into the equation?....how about those Votex side skirts you were talking about?

Shame about the damage its done fingers crossed they dont write it off but I personally think they will as the bill for that wont be cheap. Its ok buying the car back and earning a few quid in the process but re-sale value wont be alot if your intending on keeping the car for a fair few years then maybe keep it but I would see what the insurance offer you for the car and if they want to throw the car in for extra measure sell it as salvage collect the cash and buy a new un damaged motor. But as I said hopefully they will foot the bill repair your car and alls well good luck Dom

Just spoke to Ben, they're waiting on the insurers assessor to come out still. Should be by the end of the week.

It's doubtful it will be written off but there is always a small chance, assuming it isn't a write off then a couple of extra parts will be sprayed & added when the repairs are done

Yup, spoke to Ben a few mins ago. The assessor gave the car a going over yesterday and has agreed the car needs nearly £500 of replacement parts, plus 8.5hours labour.

They don't have a breakdown of the parts to be replaced yet, but they should get that and the go-ahead from the insurers to begin repairs tomorrow. Assuming that is ok they should start working on the car on Friday and I'll get another update then as to which parts are going to be replaced

I think that they tried to get a new exhaust system, but the assessor refused that

So it looks like I'll be stuck with the Astra for another week

On the plus side I'll have the golf back fairly soon and I cannot wait
