I am a very happy GTI owner. However, I am itching to start a thread, 'Test Drove a GTD yesterday'.

It would be most politically incorrect to do so on a GTI Forum.
So I'll pass for the moment.
Any more abuse regarding the GTI and I might re-consider.

GTIs are expensive, Rs are just silly money.

The main advantage of an R over a mapped GTI is 4WD. That's all.

And you don't lose your warranty, I think that's important - don't you?

No, you don't lose your warranty with bluefin.
Two main reasons...
My dealer never checks and if he does it has been removed anyway.
My dealer (and all the others) couldn't give two hoots if it's been mapped or not, its work for them.

I am totally happy that my car will be repaired under warranty if it goes wrong. 14k (10k with bluefin) and no problems.

I think this has been discussed in detail previously.

Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

I thought all new GTI/GTD/R's are now encrypted so have to be done on the bench... i.e. the dealer will know  :undecided:

10' plate running REVO stage 2 with no problems at all to date. Dealers do not care, I told my dealer not to update my ECU when in for a service to save the hassle of going to get the map on.
