GTIs are expensive, Rs are just silly money.

The main advantage of an R over a mapped GTI is 4WD. That's all.

Mk7 GTI. DBP, DCC, Winter pack. Mine since new, July 2013.
GTI no. 4. Golf no. 5.  VW no. 7.

Buy it fella. Mk6 Gti's are common as  :evil:drops a baited hook in the pool

Only 545 regestured R's on our roads.

A 59 plate must be worth a reasonable 25k which is what it should of been valued at new.

He's right.

The Rs will bomb in value in a few years, the GTI won't.

That was on my list before getting the GTI, test drive 2 of them and wasnt impressed with the ride at all and the interior feels dated after the MK6.

I agree though that an older S3 does represent a great value car that can be tuned to f*ck.

Strange, Gilly is partial to a Sh!t3. I have just driven one and it exceeds its title and then some: it is a pile of Sh!t x 3 and growing. He thinks that it would be less wreckable in his gentle hands.
A horrid car.

Kenny: If one has to choose between two evils, go for the R. But if you have the slightest semblance of taste and intelligence, keep the GTI.  :smug:

He's right.

The Rs will bomb in value in a few years, the GTI won't.

They both will and the Gtd will rule

I'll be getting an R next or a mk7 something.

I mapped an S3 on Wednesday and I tend to test drive them afterwards, I have to say that I'm always blown away by just how fast they are.
