Fuel Stop Chicken
« on: 04 July 2011, 21:10 »
Just had a jaunt up to the Orkney Islands this weekend in the GTD. Filled the tank before I left on the way up, then got off the ferry today and just wanted to get home.

I was going to stop for fuel but kept going, thinking I'll stop at the next one, so now I'm showing 640 miles on the trip, and a range of 0 miles showed for the last 30 miles home. Fuel needle is below the line and wondering if I will make it to the fuel station tomorrow

Anyone else ever try to see how low you can go?

That is some going though - most I've ever dard to go is around the 550 mark - I think my run on "0" miles was around the same though - got up the next morning and thought will it start <gulp> it did and then when I filled it up I think the tank holds 55 litres and I got something like 54.7 in!!

On average I get 250 miles to a £70 tank, but I look better and get there faster

Was trying to balance by miles to go on SatNav and range on display, but that all went south when I decided to get home a bit quicker. From Edinburgh to Gills Bay nr John O'Groats (return) on a mixture of A and B roads, Dual carriageway and motorway. i think as I passed Aviemore I was balanced on miles to go and range and by Pitlochry I was -10  :undecided:

Although it's all downhill to the shell station tomorrow

Not even half yet and it has 365 on the clock, the max I have ever had is exactly 400 to half a tank.
