Car health check

How much does a garage usually check for one of these?

Just want the car checked over to see what works needs doing either now or later on in the future.

Ha, just have a annoying sound in the car and have no idea what it is , so hopefully the check might bring some results up.

Meh... depending on where you took it I wouldn't trust it, next door neighbour went to ford for something similar and they tried to blag a new engine out of her!

What kind of noise and roughly where?

Id only get a health check done at a garage I completely trust, otherwise you might find yourself with a hefty bill for necessary work :wink:

It is a whining/squealing sound, which seems to be coming from the front , near the passengers side I think. Although is hard to pinpoint it.

The noise itself only happens when I have been in the car for a longer journey ( 30 mins or more ) never on a shorter journey. Also the noise does not get worse with the brakes being applied and happens even when I do not use them, so it is not the brakes.

It only happens when slowing down from 20mph downwards. It will start off quite then after about 4/5 times of slowing down the noise will get louder.

If say I stop though, even for 5 minutes with the engine off, I can then drive again for about 20 minutes without the noise happening.

Nah, mine has intermittent when I had faults.

Usually it was alright when it was cold and then after a short while, it'd kick in and get really loud.

Noise changes under load, i.e. when braking.

See I always thought it would make more noise when I was driving at speed, not when slowing down.

Oh well, should hopefully cost no more than what £120 odd ? Could even get my own wheel bearing kit from offline and get a garage to fit it couldn't I, might save some money
