Most things feel more nimble than a mk3, don't let that fool you into thinking a Saxo is a good car.

My feet are too big for a Saxo, my feet get stuck on that crap little piece of plastic above the clutch.

Plus my hatred for them stops me from enjoying them.

+1, hated driving my ex's 106 the pedals are shocking in those cars

Mixed opinions.

I had one a few years back. It was brilliant, cornered well, nimble handling. Never had a problem with it until I lowered it and something rubbed on the power steering line, still, that was an easy fix.

Liked the cars 'til I drove one.

Everything squeaked, looked well looked after but it just squeaked. The doors didn't "thump" like the MK3. The pedals were awful. The seat wouldn't go far back enough.

Alright to lower it 60mm and hack round roundabouts at night, not nice to live with on long drives.......... I'd imagine.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.

Had a 106Gti and it was a cracking little car, took it to cornwall twice (from Preston) and the only thing missing was aircon as both times it was fookin hot so actually not bad on long journeys IMO. However, the multitude of things that went wrong (power steering pump, driveshafts due to being lowered, ARB droplinks, sheared crank pulley woodruf key = 8 new valves and an unplanned HG and cambelt change, sticking tappets etc etc etc), the completely cack general build quality, the alarm that had a mind of its own and the fact that they dont handle at all when lowered (which I only found out when I put it back to stock to sell!!!) meant it HAD to go. Pretty much put me off French cars for life that little nipper, even if it could be ridiculously fun to thrash the nuts off.

I had a 106gti also, awesome little car, was lowered, pipercross induction, full stainless magnex, half leather seats etc  but cost me a wedge, 9years ago! Was well good fun and went really well! Had to sell to buy a house with my ex, what a waste! Lol,

Also had a vtr, was similar but much lower quality, if ur gonna have one it needs to be the vts!

Still, prefer my mk3 to the vtr, but wud have my 106 back any day!
