Universal Backboxes
« on: 30 June 2011, 21:46 »
Thinking of picking one of these up for my MK3 Golf 1.4 CL but not really sure if it will fit to be honest.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380246263675&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Few questions though, will this by any means 'decrease' the performance of my car at all? Or isn't this really possible?

Cheers :)

i went the universal route, sounded terrible, fit terrible and the quality was terrible. It was off my car within 2 weeks.

i was given a universal exhaust when i first had my car.
i had no problems with it,custom made a pipe to fit to the rest of the system and it was fine.
sounded nice and was on the car for nearly two years before i changed the system(passed two mot`s in that time).
also still have the back box cos i like it and may decide to put it back on at some point

Get one if you're a bit handy with the tools and a bit of bodging, otherwise stay away.
Have a look at the standard boxes for models further up the range, these are more likely to fit with ease.
