Me again, right all the above was done and found number 4 cylinder was at 9 bar with the rest at 12-13 bar so oil was put down and number 4 cylinder went up to nearly 14. tried it all again but still wouldnt start and the spark is still very weak. Pulled out the injectors 1 by 1 and tried to check the spray pattern in them but they didnt spray any petrol which i though was strange as the metering head was primed and full of petrol under pressure. Why didnt the injectors spray any petrol into the jar? Sorry if this sounds a silly question.

Hi,

I have recently had this same problem on my k-jet 16v. To test the injectors you have to bridge the fuel pump relay, connect the battery then lift the flap up in the airbox up then the injectors should spray fuel. If the injectors dont spray it could be your fuel pump not suppling enough fuel(should be 5 bar) but mine turned out to be the metering head, i did try 3 before one worked!!

Thanks for tha tim, i didnt know that. I even went to VW stirling for a wee bit of advice and a price on the injectors. I got the price for the injectors which was over £200. But they told me the golf was probably to old for them to look at but they would give it a go for an hour which would cost me around £80 but wouldnt guarantee they would be able to tell me the problem. Best take it to a specialist they said and thinking to myself wait a minute you are the specialist ffs lol. Jeesh
