Effects of Absinthe

Im told that the effects can be different to normal alcohol and i dont just mean more pissed
Ive never tried it, does anyone have any experiences?

So is it no different to drinking a lot of normal alcohol?

The fact it has more than double of the alcohol content of vodka and almost as much alcohol % as medical alcohol I'd say absinthe burns your oesophagus and almost gives the same effect as sniffing pure alcohol...

I was told it crystallises in your stomach and you get drunk again by drinking water the next day... I was still pissed the next morning form all the other booze so can't vouch for that, probably an urban myth to make it seem hard core.

Just tastes of aniseed, then you pass the point of pissed and into vegetable state, not summit you can drink on a night out, and if you drink it at a house party then expect your mates to torture you when your comatose.

Your supposed to water it down, avoid the red stuff, its more paint stripper than drink!

Lethal sh!t, preparing and drinking the proper varieties are regarded as a skill. There are specialist bars that sell nothing but Absinthe.
I can personally confirm that certain types definitely incur hallucingenic properties...

We got some of the proper stuff when we went on holiday last year, not the stuff they sell over here that's like 40% but the stuff that like 80 odd or 90 odd can't remember (was the most alcoholic one) before every night out nack in a few shots of that and you know itl be a good one, though we went for a meal one night with my mates parents and a few of there mates, already had a good few shots of absinthe. Then a few pints of stella while we were having the meal and by the time we'd finished we didn't realise that we were actually quite mery untill we stood up . Then we went back to the hotel and got my mates dad pissed which ended up with him on the floor watching the footy because he couldn't stand up properly

Can't wait to go away again in 2 weeks, another bottle of absinthe getting bought on the first day, a few quater of a letre bottles of vodka and a free bar downstaires untill 11pm. Should be a goodn

Also herd the crystalising thing, though as you said I've always still been drunk when I've had absinthe so wouldn't know, but there's a few things that are roumoured to do that.

There's a great shop on the corner of Wardour street and Old Compton in london that sell a every kind of alcohol you can think of, including several kinds of genuine Absinthe.

A buddy of mine the states asked if i could bring some over on my next trip, so duly bought a couple of bottles of the good stuff and stuck them in my hand luggage.

It was only when I got to the US and met up with him did I realise my mistake. He was genuinely shocked I had some with me. Totally banned in the US it turns out and had I got stopped at customs I'd have gone through the full rubber glove treatment. Oooops.
