Trim Removal

How do i go about removing the GTI trim from my MK2 golf? and do i need some sort of adhesive to stick it bak on well? Wanna remove it to check rust out

the arches are held on by rivets that need drilling out and the side strips are clip on if its a late model or stuck on if its really early

when u say side strips - u talkin bout the part that is runnin down the side of the car along the sill? Sorry im a noob  :tongue:

the sill is on the bottom of the car nearest the ground it is held on with a few screws and clips the side strips are the bits halfway up the doors! :smiley:

the side skirt/sill things are also stuck on and are very easy to break!!! do it carefully!

if they are also stuck on - wot is the best thing to use to restick them on? and also are they riveted on?

either get new ones or use something like sikoflex adhesive or some hardcore double sided tape. clean up the area very well before hand though.

I've been checking threads and it seems like loads of us are thinking about dealnig with rust under the body kit during the spring. Matybe we should compare notes about what sh!te we find and  the best solution to  creating a lasting solution to the problems we find eg repair panels, waxoyl, sell the f*ck*r etc.
