LED Number plate fittings

Can I buy the new LED fittings and put them on to a GTD without errors?
Read through some older posts but never found the answer?

well, they are OK on the MK5, you can see a green circuit board, so perhaps they have a built-in resistor, on the back they are marked 12v 1watt.

Ive got the VW Led lights on the number plate and they generate the error light on the dash, they only draw 1 watt were the normal bulbs draw 10 watt.
