K & N Panel Filter
« on: 10 September 2003, 19:12 »

Hello,

Just a quick question, does any 1 have any info on the just the K&N Panel Air Filters, what do they sound like? I used to have the 57K&N Induction kit until it made my mixture to ritch and the car was cutting out  :(.. not sure what caused this but when i took the induction kit off it resolved the problem for about a week, then i had to get it tuned to sort the problem out. I still want that sound from the engine so i thought about a K&N panel filter, does any 1 have one on there mk11 GTI 8v.

I also have the induction kit for sale if any1 wants it ?50 used for 2 weeks.

Cheers,  :)

A K&N panel filter in the standard air box isn't going to give you the noise...........unless you also drill the airbox.

I agree , the induction kit will not cause the problem as such. Your engine must be digifant, assuming the filter gave you problems and its not something else, then you need to get a spark plug mixture tester from halfords and adjust your mixture with the filter on.

When you digifant what do you mean? I have the standard air filter on now but i'm considering put the induction kit back on getting it tuned so its running correctly.

Thanks 4the info.

If you are using an induction kit( cone ) then your engine is a digifant not k-jet, this is a fully electronic fuel injection system. I think on the early digifant systems (up to 1992) the fuel mixture can be adjusted, this is all you probably need to do. Good luck  ;D
