Is the stud pattern the same as on the MK4 golf?

Early ones (mk1 1999 to 2003) were 210bhp with a APY or AMK lump (1999 to 2001) and then 225bhp BAM lump (2001 on).

I know, I was just wondering if they were any good. A 1.8t 225 4wd that I can afford to insure sounds too good.

Given the choice I would buy a Leon Cupra R, I did drive a S3 when I was looking, yes it was quick but felt a little dull.

My mate has te s3 I was going to buy, he works for g-weeks in little Hampton, he is pushing some serious bhp now he's kept it standard looking, but full exhaust and remaped the he'll outa it, when I get bk in the golf I feel bored!! I'd quite like a cupra r tho tbh

A real 304bhp 286lbft in a mk4 golf!

get the AMK or BAM engine ones they are exactly the same apart from the map, so basically map to the same, AMK has bigger gudgeon pins tho so slightly stronger off the 2 and thats the engine iv got   AMK came in 2003 cars and 2003 Seat Cupra Rs

APY is no where near as good as the other 2 and wont map toas much either

big fan of S3's and Cupra R's

+1  , only problem is finding an s3 for a decent price that hasnt done 120k + , you can still pay 8k for a decent one!   and thats bordering r32, MK5 gti money,  id go for the cupra r as they are alot better value for money,

agree on the mileage thing, i had to really hunt high and low for a engine with 40k or below.. and then i had to pay over the odds for it..  and it actually came out of a Cupra R..

late spec Cupras are nice, (teardrop wing mirrors etc)
