Car won't start

yep, have tried 4 times now to start it, leaving half an hour each time but still no joy so thinking either something ignition related maybe.
I really need it to happen when i am at work and have all my tools, although i might sort out a few tools to go in the car for when it happens next time so i can check for spark, fuel etc.

Crank sensor?

I am going to try and scan it tomorrow but vag com won't work on my laptop so going to try it on my mates who has xp on his not vista as i don't think it has ever worked on this one.

Poss coolant temp sensor? Another common problem but an easy fix if it is the culprit.
Mine used to intermittently not start/turn over but not fire, I noticed eventually it was happening on warm starts and not cold, still intermittently though, and quite a strong smell of fuel aswell. Left for 15 mins or so and all would be fine!(not cool when you're stopping for petrol )
Anyway, faulty temp sensor was telling the ecu the engine was cold when warm so it overfuelled and flooded. New sensor and it's behaved for 18 months now. *touches wood*
Good luck getting it sorted though whatever it is
