As I said earlier:

Put it this way:
Two women (or men), one not too attractive (17") but a good ride the other a stunner (18") but a reasonable ride.
Which one would you go for?
I know one thing, the doggy one would not give me a hard-on even though she/he was supposed to be a good ride. So it would be a waste.
On that note, I'll have the stunner and have satisfaction guaranteed.

Different strokes for different folks and all that jazz .....

 :smug:

LMFAO - I hadn’t read that, genius!

Also repeating my post.

18"s win in the looks department.

17"s win in every other.

Depends what you want from your car......

Looks, sexiness and envious looks from everyone. Call me shallow. Call me anything you want. But I've got the sex appeal with my 18". Just thinking about them gives me a hot flush

Didn't buy my car for the benefit of others.

I wanted a fast, reliable, practical, economical and good looking family car.

20 months later and I still think I made the perfect choice.
I've enjoyed every single day of ownership.

Missed out the bit about the stunner after a year or two turning into an old hag who has lots of wrinkle white lines and flaking skin all over her face and in desperate need of a face lift.

That's two more to add to the list. :lipsrsealed:

Quieter (proved by asker).
Less breakaway (opinion from Hurdey).

We already know 17"s are:

Faster
More comfortable
Cheaper (and tyres)
Much easier to repair
Less likely to kerb
No white worm

I wonder how many would have chosen the 17"s if they came in the same
finish (with black inserts) as the Monza shadows??

Don't forget much better on fuel too

I'd never have ordered my car with the 17's but after living with them I love them to bits, they never look dirty and I can get the new goodyears for 110 quid a corner fitted.....

If I get another Golf GTD I'd stick with the 17's if I get a gti then I'd have to go for the 18's for the looks alone.
