G60 Wings...

I've just had an email from BBT or now "VW heritage Watercooled" saying that the 021D has just been re-made by VW Classic parts in Germany....

167.20 Euro - OUCH!!

Wings not much use without the arches...IMO

So did the G60/ 16v not have side repeaters from the factory if there aren't any holes for them? Though all 90spec cars had them and it was only really early cars that had badges?

You don't own a Mk2, you support it.

I think only USA version cars didn't have indicators... I guess you have to drill your own holes...

For that price I would expect them to fit themselves.

Does seem a big difference between the standard ones and the G60 ones... Just for a couple of slots...

So it's not just Ebay that pumps up the price!!

It seems that the G60 items are expensive for what they are! 167.00 Euros = 146.36 British pounds sterling + the dreaded VAT I'm sure, compared to the £98 + Vat for the standard wing... However a couple of points, If you were putting back together a Pukka G60, on a nut and bolt rebuild, then I at least would want the invoice showing the G60 wings part No's as part of the cars provenance, which I believe in the near future, will become more and more important on Mk2s...
My 2nd point about the price, to have a body shop modify a standard OE wing, to G60 spec could cost easily 1hr+ each wing, and end up nearly being on par with the G60 items, horses for courses really
For anyone wanting OE wings, but to G60 spec, but not bothered about the paperwork, then yes, go for the OE items and modify to G60 spec... looks easy enough

Maybe someone with new G60 wings could put the size place and dimensions of the slot then someone like me could just dremel the 2 slots ?? Would be an easier option IMO..

Have the G60 wings got a wider arch to go with the wider spats?

I was wondering that too.... It "looks" wider like a rolled arch...

I'm sure its the same pressing, just been trimmed... the original standard wing comes with the flasher repeater hole punched, but also interestingly, the holes for the standard GTI rub strip are marked with a dot punch, (leaving the body shop to drill the holes) but not punched out. But by the looks of it, the G60 version has the holes punched, to receive the clip that locates in the "rub strip" part of the wheel arch, so Im guessing now, but I would say that the dot punch marks that are on a standard GTI wing are actually there for the benefit of the factory to produce G60 wings?
Either way, both wings are in production
