It could possibly be your fuel pump (not delivering enough fuel under load ) ?

I think this may be a common fault - have a read of this and see if it sounds the same :-

^^^ The EA888's (aka Mk6 GTI engine) aren't affect by fueling issues in the same way as the R due to the totally different design of the fuel pump  :nerd:

If you read the link above it is in fact a 2011 Mk 6 GTi that had this problem despite his avatar and posting on the R forum  !! (long story hence my last line above !!) and the VW Dealer had to replace the high pressure pump in the engine bay

Very helpful JonnyG, thank you.  I know Helmi and it sounds like we have the same bloody problem.  Off to VW now to cause a stink.
