Sorry to hear that you also have had your beloved GTI stolen.  Glad that your insurers are prepared to get you a new one though how long that will take is anyones' guess.

All the best to you when the new one comes along.  Let's hope they find the barstewards and they serve a considerable sentence at her Majesty's pleasure.

 sorry to hear about all 3 of your gtis being stolen, i was the unfortunate buyer of a stolen mk4 gti a couple of months ago i never thought how much stress it being stolen would have caused, i bought it as a 1.6 mk4 w reg turned out to be a 2.0gti x reg that had been stolen 3 years previous, it had been m.o.t'd registered etc for 3 years with the 1.6 number plates on :( took me 24 hours and a lot of help from this forum to find out, i handed it in to the police as theres no way i could have sold it on and do to someone else what had been done to me. as it stands im just over 2k down and waiting for a date from small claims court :( with the police closing the case and no one being charged and the car has been sold on by the insurance.
BUT on a brighter note it took me a couple months to get striaght but i now have a 1.8t mk4 so not too bad:)

my brother lives in a very posh area he had his house broke into the took a laptop and keys to the brand new 3 month old mazda 6 big sporty thing  on the drive, car was found 3 days later 100's miles away it had hit a tree, ppl were caught and linked to 50 other cars stolen in same way

they all need shooting

If you declare that you keep your car on your driveway, it increases your premium as you're a more likely target as the thieves know which house to break into.

Unfortunately, I don't have a choice living in London so I'm at risk from people parallel parking and having workmen in the street swinging things into my car. I would still keep it on my driveway because the minor damage always means it's not worth claiming due to the impact on NCB.

If something happened to it while it was on your driveway being cleaned before you moved it back into the street and you saved a few hundred pounds a year...

I do hope that everyone who has had their cars stolen is suitably compensated and restored to many more miles of GTI goodness.

it was north west London stolen on a sunny bank hol monday at 3.30pm in the afternoon. I live in a quite residential street - apparantly none of my neighbours saw someguy break in through the front door - leaving it open on exit and driving off with the car from my driveway!! Hey ho - thats life and there could be worse things!!

I had an Audi tt before the golf and never had any probs but I used to park it on the street. I think that once the new car comes I will resort to that again. In the meantime going to have a wired alarm and CCTV cams installed.
