First prize, it was a copied cd of some  black american artist.I only hope they find a finger print on it but i dont hold out alot of hope,im pretty sure they know who it is anyway from what i have been told by the police reguarding the serious incident and the finger print of the young lady that was found on a bag in the car.

Been to see the car today after they cleaned it,it's not in to bad a condition but still needs £5.000 worth of work, new wheels and tyres x 4,brakes disc and pads x 4 and minor paint repairs.

genuinely very sorry to hear about your misfortune. do you know if this payout will affect your insurance renewal quote? (even though you have protected NCB and non-fault I would imagine that somewhere it might go against you?)

Probably will affect it,it was very low before due to it being a low crime area,£208 fully comp, unfortunately the thief travelled 35 miles from wolverhampton to rob the car.

Yes, the low life travel to reek havoc in better areas. Unfortunately, as the hard times bite, the better areas will become the ghettos. Sad but very probable.
Hope you get your car back soon.

Hi Im new to the forum - its my first post but saw what happened to Simon and its pretty awful. Im in almost exactly the same postion - on 2nd May my 6 month old fully loaded Golf gti was stolen from my driveway. They broke in stole the keys and drove off.

It was recovered a couple of weeks ago by the police. Apparantly it was abandoned, unlocked. It has scratches on the outside, the inside is full of weed(!) and very dirty with some scuff marks.

I wasn’t happy with the body shop who initially wouldn’t even replace the tyres or do a service! I complained to my insurers who have now offered me a brand new like for like model. They’re just making enquires in terms of how long it will take for delivery.

Simon did you explore this option with your insurers? Because even if you are selling the car on its much easier (and more profitable!!) to do so with a brand new one.

Also I’ve decided that im definetly going to keep my replacement when it comes. Can I ask Simon whether you had a house alarm – we didn’t but im having one fitted now.
