Thanks mate....I really want to get my hands dirty and get stuck into things! Is there anything i can do myself which isnt too hard to make my motor run upto scratch before i take it into the garage for a service and check up.Maybe just little things i should do just to make sure the motor is starting to feel well looked after.Im itching to make her feel loooked after and want to do something myself....Any ideas?

Sorry for replying to myself but one thing ive noticed is that my temperature gauge is intermittent. It has moved in the last couple of day,but mainly it just sits at the bottom. Is there a sensor or something i should replace and if so could you tell me where to find it.Im naive but keen!

They where designed to burn some oil, about .75 of a litre every thousand miles.

check the temp sender connection. its on the water outlet. you will see wires going to two senders on the pipe. the blue sensor lets the ECU know the water temp. while the black one is the one that controls the temp gauge on the dash

it might just be the clocks themselves. my water temp is intermittent also. one day it works other times it wont. mine is a clock fault but so far havent got round to changing the clocks

as long as your oil temp works then you can use this as a temp gauge. its far more accurate anyhow!!

Is this right?
Thought motors only burnt oil if they were worn? :undecided:

This is correct. The new engines on longlife oil,it is acceptable to burn a litre of oil every 600 miles, from new. These wear in and burn less.
