Indeed, I must get around to updating my member details.

Recovery does work a little different here.  For 'recovery' read transportation to a garage of your choosing.  Better to call VW direct and cut out the middle man.  I also bargained on getting someone a little more sympathetic to my front splitters, alloys, etc. when they put the car on the transporter, not to mention the fact that I couldn't get it out of P on the DSG so thought it may need lifting (which they did).

Just got a call saying that they're still looking at it.  Am expecting another one soon to say that they've progressed to opening the bonnet...

LOL

It's nice to know some things are the same wherever you live in the world! That is unless we Brits are just used to a Third World type service at home........

VW had the car for a couple weeks all told.  Very little feedback during that time, and only in response to my calls.  I began to brace myself for an unpleasant ride.  Finally received a brief call to say that the car was ready to be picked-up or delivered.  Curious to know the details of the outcome, I headed over to their workshops.  Best I could get was that there was a fault on the "controller" (?) and some parts of the charging system.  These were all replaced, along with a new battery, under warranty.  They also threw in a free valet.  Despite a lack of communication and a general vagueness in the feedback, the overall experience was very positive (and a lot less painful than the experience I had many years ago at a UK VW dealership over a Corrado VR6's faulty distributor).  And so far, so good...

Interested to hear if anyone else has had similar problems with "controllers".

Now busy 'preparing' the car for shipping back to UK in a couple of months.  For this, read: 1) center armrest installation; 2) replace open center drinks holder with the covered version; 3) iPod connectivity; 4) tyre pressure warning system installation; 5) door security lights; and 6) new GTI mats.  I'll leave the conversion stuff (headlights, speedo, etc.) until we're back in the UK.

All's good so far then.
You'll soon be back at the mercy of UK dealerships and weather. You've missed summer BTW. It arrived in March and ended in April. Was nice while it lasted though.

Now I see why you have been scouring the 'other forum' and posting about the TPMS tyre pressure thingies. Yes, I am a double agent who goes by a pseudonym(sp) and your every move is being tracked.......
