Any sort of carpet you like. Acoustic carpet is only needed when you want to let sound through. The bay is good for that sort of thing, but local carpet places can sell off-cuts for peanuts if you want something cheap.

Strong spray adhesive is a good bet, 3M stuff is usually good.

Obviously shag pile would be a bit difficult

Girlfriend's brother did his parcel shelf and sub box in offcuts. It's surprising how thin cheap carpet can be!

Yeah well i work next door to carpet right so i might have a chat with them before i go to work tomorrow
Thanks for the advice

Well i have not done loads to this as the weather was once again naff, but i have managed to get most of the annoying bits out of the way manged to cut both carboard templets out and cut on side onto my mdf, slow progress but i am getting there :)
Couple of pictures,
Carboard cut out on the drivers side

Then transferred onto my mdf

Hopefully going to cut the other side tomorrow morning will post some pictures up att some point

Wouldn't it have been cheaper, easier and quicker to simply stick a spacesaver in the boot than raising the flooring to accommodate a full size steelie?  :undecided:

Cheaper, doesnt really matter tbh, i got all screws mdf and pine for under £10 from work  :lipsrsealed:
And as for spacesaver, yes there is going to be one put in the car, the floor was mainly raised to allow for amp(s) and sub(s)  the future will explain more

Right so the plans changed slightly, i still have a false floor, but it now is on 2" high, and i have only got the back bit done, the reason for this is because i got hold off 3 amps, 2 subs, power cap and all the cables for £50, subs are 300watts rms and the amps put out 430rms @ 4 ohms, so bit of a result  All of this was done today :)

Not the best picture in the world, but you get an idea, so they came in this pre built box and i just was not happy with it, so i got some info and have made some designs for 2 sealed 1.0933 cuf boxes got some 18mm mdf and cut them to size

So i had my plans, had my materials and had my equipment, it was time to crack on, so first i put the back half of the false floor to allow the the boxes to sit on something

Next up was to make the boxes :)
One done

Then 2

After this i had to the put my amps somewhere so i made a couple of shelfs

From the back

I managed to get them wired in aswell to test them out, lets just say running at volume 12 impressed me :D aha
Well next time im free i shall make the shelves look a bit nicer, finish the front half of the false floor and wrap it all in black carpet,
But not bad for a days work, luckily i had a extra pair of hands as my girlfriend decided she wanted to help :D
Comments welcom, will post updates if and when i can get around to doing more so far the materials and equipment has cost me a little under £70, thats what you call a budget project

Well done on that find mate, bargain!! Personally I would put some sort of insulation under the false floor though to stop the costant rattle you will get on bare metal. Will drive you nuts eventually!
