Been making a little progress, paint looks a bit orange in the pics, but it dried more red (still not a perfect match of course, but better than rust);

Cleaned and primed the gearbox this evening, just got to decide on colour now. Was thinking silver (already bought the paint too) but having second thoughts and thinking of going with black instead, hmmmm

Yeah that's what I was thinking, but also thought the silver would break it up a bit .. don't want to have to paint the gearbox twice though if it looks crap!

Taking into account all the votes (from other forums too) it came out even, so I painted it silver
