interior light***DONE***
« on: 27 February 2011, 14:07 »
Does anyone know how to remove the entire interior light from a mk4 golf (non sunroof model) It looks like this
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=400197583244&category=9889&_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_500wt_949

I've bust the switch, so need to replace it, but can't seem to 'prize the bugger out'.

Waqs thinking that if I could, I'd replace it with a W8 model  :undecided:

Any one got any ideas please??

Gently prise the lens off which will reveal 2 screws.  Remove these and the unit should pop out.  A W8 version is doable but either make up the wiring harness or buy one ready made (about £15).  Virtually plug and play with an extra wire connected to the back of the light switch.

The W8 light has red lighting behind the switches whereas the Skoda Superb verison has green. Both go for silly money and come in with or without sunroof versions. Light grey come up more often than the darker ones.

You need to push it into the roof and then angle it downwards if that makes sense

I think there are two metal retaining springs / clips on the rear of the light which you need to press in using a screwdriver

Yeah, I know the retaining springy things you mean, It seems like one side is completely loose and will come down (the side with the 2 screws) but the other side seems like its screwed in as well, if you see what I mean.
