Whilst shopping in Tesco I did the customary thing of having a browse through PC.

*Looks wistfully into the distance fantasising about having a massive garage and lots of shiny new tools*

The current issue has a MK2 Golf buying guide.  Whilst not the most comprehensive write up one could imagine, I was shocked to read that they recon the 16v does 41 MPG and the 8v 42 MPG.

 :grin:

Go figure!

The biggest obstacle in getting good MPG figures is that they feel better the more you press the right pedal.
My MFA says I get 42mpg down the motorway but I usually take the bendy route..

my old 8v digi averaged 40mpg+ all day long. highest i got was 47mpg on a long run. the engine was on 250k miles too  :grin:


I don't think a semi will give the same results

Yeah I've got 40+MPG out of my Digi 8v's in the past. Even the track car gets over 35mpg on a long run.

40mpg with correct tyre pressure and an oil change for me (MFA)

got 38.9 out of mine on a run to canock this weekend at a steady 70mph

usualy only get 29 when using it round town
