speedo not working

hi all, well i have a mk2 golf pre 90, i had a look at the rear of the clocks its working there, where does it go after that, if not where is thecheapest place to get a speedo cable?

how do you mean its working at the back of the clocks? have you drivenit with clocks out to ensure the speedo cable peg spins?

no not driven it without the clocks in! took it all appart tho and had a look. and i spun the needle inside the clock and it moved! its another thing for the garage! lol

ah i see. drive it for a short distance with the clocks out and watch the cable, should see it spin. dont go too far as the battery wont be charging!

if its not spinning it could be the cable or the gear on the other end inside the gearbox

Does anywhere stock those detachable geared attachment from the gearbox end of the cable?
Unfortunately we don't seem to do them at ecp but surely someone does.
