Yup.

I was 21 when I bought my first GTI, I saved for four years for it - it was 5 years old.

The insurance was outrageous but such good memories.

I was 18 when I bought my first GTI it was a white A reg MK2 8v with a engineering conversion

Cost about 900 quid to insure that 21 years ago

It's very hard for people under 25 to get any kind of car insurance these days, I feel sorry for them as they are missing out on the fun and adventures we had as young guns with nice motors

Should have bought a mk1 it was a less than half the price to insure back then compared to a mk2  I laffed at every mk2 driver in those times. When insurance went stupid a few years latter for some reason it did not effect mk1's but mk2s went stupid so i laffed even more

Sounds like you've been doing a lot of laughing

I bought an RS500 in moonstone blue (one of 45) for my 21st that cost 2100 quid to insure

Still paying through the nose now

Well car went in today, no issues with the clutch.
There was a fuel leak though. The garage did an excellent job, car was done in 3 hours, all leaked fuel was cleaned up and gave the car a quick wash too :)
They pulled all the wiring out that I spent all yesterday on so my drivers side headlamp cluster wasn't working but all sorted now :D gonna order the tips tomorrow and windows are being tinted Saturday :D

Hello ;)

Window tints done today, de-badged, and HIDS.
Gave the car a good clean, but to say it was a motorway cruiser before with 40k on it, that paint is in bloody good condition!
The Golf and TDI badges were stuck on a lot firmer then my old Seat badges, the dental floss didn't work and I ran out, so I used a very small electrical flat blade screwdriver with cloth wrapped around it, and Autoglym tar remover, worked a treat :)
All I need now is Vancouver alloys, new bumpers, chrome exhaust and a few interior mods, and that's about it for the first part of the year :) As my original plans will have to wait until I can save some serious cash.
